MARC GARCIA VITORIA
He studied violin and piano in his home town and in the Professional Conservatoire of Ontinyent, where he obtained the Elementary Violin Certificate and de Professional Piano Degree. He continued his studies of composition in the Music High School of Barcelona (ESMUC) with teachers like Luis Naón, Ramón Lazkano and Gabriel Brncic, and he got his Bachelor's Degree in Composition in 2008. That year he was accepted at Geneva's “Haute École de Musique”, where he is now studying a Master in Music Composition and Theory with Michael Jarrell, Luis Naón and Eric Daubresse, specialized in Electroacoustic and Instrumental Composition. For his second year, he is developing the technical part of his MA project at the IRCAM, in Paris, by following the Cursus 1. He is currently receiving the financial help of “la Caixa” Foundation. He has recently been invited to follow the Cursus 2, where he will develop his artistic and research project.
His pieces have been performed in France, Spain and Switzerland, by ensembles like “Ensemble Contrechamps”, “Ensemble de Saxophones du Maine”, “Quatuor Duggan” or “Orchestre Studio de Cergy-Pontoise”; and by soloists and conductors G.E. Octors, David Horne, Jaume Santonja, Dorian Fretto, Domingo García-Hindoyan, Rut Schereiner, Víctor de la Rosa, Marc Charles, Ferran Carceller...
In 2007 he represented the Esmuc at the “6èmes rencontres internationales de composition musicale de Cergy-Pontoise”, where he obtained the jury prize for his piece “L'union libre”. After that he was engaged as resident composer by "La porta clàssica” for the concerts season “Joves Intèrprets Catalans IV 2007/2008”. His piece “No hay olvido” was chosen for the final concerts of two percussion BA in Barcelona and Geneva, and his work “Microscopi 1: Malson” was finalist of the “Reine Marie José” Composition Prize in Switzerland. In 2010 he is invited to the “Voix Nouvelles” session in the Royaumont abbey, with professors B. Ferneyhough, L. Lim and F. Filidei.
